Literary Agents

Janet A. Spaulding

Janet's career took left turn toward agency one rainy day in May of 1997 while sitting at a publishing meeting. She suddenly realized her drive, background and charisma had been immediately effective in making a difficult connection between publisher and an already published writer—a writer who needed fair and aggressive representation.
Janet now represents fiction writers in almost all genres.
Among her accomplishments, she's interned at John Benjamin's North America Company in their academic book publishing and rare book distribution division. She's traveled on 5 of the seven continents; however, Australia and Antarctica will have to wait. Previously, Janet has lived in numerous countries on the Pacific Rim. i.e. The Philippines, Japan, and Korea. Janet has written, edited, and published work for the Department of Defense, and she's held a DOD security clearance.
The Slate Roof Agency now represents six authors.

Marc D. Weston

Marc is a retired rowing coach, volunteer firefighter, scuba diver, and mechanical designer. He likes the water. He's a graduate of LaSalle College and is attending Drexel University, and represents our medical thrillers, horror and sci-fi genre, and childrens' books. He reads extensively and has a real knack for spotting a good read, or pulling a better book out of a borderline author. Slate Roof encourages his knack and capitalizes on an author's strengths.
Just so you have an understanding for Marc's reading preferences, we've listed a number of his prefered authors: John J. Nance, Dean Koontz, John Saul, Tom Clancy, Robin Cook, Patrick Lynch, Peter Straub, and Michael Crichton. He likes to read horror/mystery and Sci-Fi.
Marc is always looking forward to publishing his new Horror authors with publishing houses including, but not limited to, Berkley - NY, Bantam Ballantine Books - NY, and Warner and Signet.
Asked recently, "What can you do for the writer-wannabe-author?"; Marc answered, "I believe I encourage and guide writers to produce the best book they've ever written...until the next one that is."
As for YA writers, Marc is willing and able to represent both children's' books and YA books. Marc agrees with recent Romance Writers of America comments about the limited selection in this genre, and he believes he can help publish a greater number of interesting books focused on YA. "A great benefit to our reading youth, and to society."
